Grrr.  I don’t know what the deal is, like maybe i’m a chucklehead, but i’ve poured over all sorts of RV-10 sites, and no one has ever written much about the door handles, latches, etc.  like somehow it just falls together.  nope.  or, i should say, yea, but no.  My problem had a bit to do with the fact that i didn’t really understand how the door handles were meant to operate.  so when i don’t understand the real goal, i REALLY don’t do well.  once i figured out how the handles operate, i started to get the hang of what was going on.  whatever.  it just seemed to me like everything in this step was a problem.  like take the exterior handle... you drill a hole for the screw as pictured (the pic has the screw in there already) and you have to tap the far side of the hole.  well my tap either wasn’t long enough, or got too thick to pass through the near side of the hole.  i ended up having to modify the tap by making it skinnier past the thread cutters.  i just ground it down, and was able to get it to work.  hard to explain, but whatever.  oh - if you don’t have a very comprehensive drill bit collection, go to the store before you start this step.  there’s a bunch of oddball drill sizes that you need here, and i had to run to the store for every one of them.  i guess there really isn’t much to say about the door handles after all.  oh yea - there is...  Harrumph.
