7.10-7.15.06

This was a huge progress week. It starts by getting the forward floor and ribs together, and clecoing them to the firewall and forward fuse ribs. Suddenly the forward fuse starts to get big! Now is the time that a couple other little things get handled, like mounts for the fuel and brake lines, and mounts for the fuel pump, and the fuel flow transducer. These last couple things are found in the "tunnel" area between the two front seats. On some people's completed RV-10s, there's been a heat problem in this area, causing the tunnel to be too hot to put a bare hand on. This is a problem for a couple reasons, but the biggest of which is that the fuel lines and pumps are in this tunnel, and if they get too hot, there is a possibility of the fuel turning to vapor in the lines, which kills the engine. This is commonly known as "vapor lock" and it's no fun in an airplane. i've got some ideas to fix this problem, and i'll chronicle those in a separate section. for now...BUILD ON!! once we do a bunch of match drilling, we're ready to cleco and bolt the back half of the fuselage to the forward half of the fuselage! Then some more riveting, and viola! it gets bigger still!

We also took the opportunity to seal some of the holes in the firewall with proseal, then we let the cats in for a romp around to check out the scene.
