man, riveting on the side skins was a ton of work, but now it's lookin sweet! I've got a saturday to get some stuff wrapped up, so i figured i'd do the rear seat vents and the side steps. As i go further, i'm getting less annoyed with how difficult everything seems to be. Things just are... cumbersome. it's kind of neato to come up with innovative solutions to little problems. If you've ever played computer games like Myst, you'd be an excellent aircraft builder. Unconventional thinking to solve problems isn't just the order of the day, it's the demand of every day. it's really damned satisfying. take this part, setting the angle of the step. I won't bore you with the details, but the best idea was to tape a piece of quarter round to the wing spars, ballpark the step angle, make a mark on the quarter round level with the leading edge of the step, then fine tune the step angle til you achieve the required measurement between the step and the quarter round. yay. ok, maybe i will bore you with the details. anyway, i'm not on step 31, i'm on LEVEL 31! i'm such a geek. did the rear passenger vents, and played with them for about an hour. open. closed. open. closed. air. no air. open. closed. yup.
