Rivet, rivet, rivet....I'm rounding the home stretch with the tailcone. i can feel it. I basically riveted the top skins almost entirely. the only rivets i have left are the ones I need help with. i'm going to have to put bethany inside with the bucking bar to get some of the rivets. it'll have to wait til tomorrow.

While I'm hanging out with nothing left to do, i can wrap up a couple issues. These mark my first real departures from the actual plans supplied with the kit. The first one is the rudder cable fairings. I bought them from Aircraft spruce, and rather than just rivet them on, i installed flush nutplates for screws to hold them on. I know it seems like overkill, but I have my reasons. The other think that i did was to add SafeAir's static air system ports. I like them, and I like the way the pitot tubing connects in the kit. Seems pretty cool.
