Here’s my super sweet test bench. It consists of a 40 dollar Office Depot desk, a Triplite 12 volt bench power supply, a fuseblock with fast-ons, and a ground block with fast-ons. It’s sometimes messy, but it’s a really easy and safe way to test expensive equipment. I’ve got some of my panel gear already, so it’s time to play. The Chelton is up and running. I got to update the software. I play with it by entering flight plans and zooming around the country. Virtually. I got some pics of the different screens (artificial horizon & instruments, map, and engine stuff). Sweet. Next to it, I’ve got the in-flight entertainment. it’s a 6 disc DVD changer that has Ipod control and aux inputs. I don’t like the retractable screens on in-dash DVD players, so i got one that’s a 2 din size with a full screen all the time. I know that panel space is kind of at a premium, but I don’t think I have much going in front of the co-pilot, and i like the cleaner look of a big screen. cool.
****update - i’m not using this entertainment system. going with something better and infinitely more useful. more to follow.
