So here it starts... this is all one long day of building. to be honest, neither bethany or myself has a very good idea of what the heck we're doing. I'm used to dealing with steel, and cars and such. Happily, the directions are pretty straightforward. We're learning what it means to deburr. yay. deburr. deburr. cleco. deburr. We're getting the skeleton of the Vertical Stab together. pretty flimsy without any skin on it.
Now we're getting somewhere. tons of clecos, and the skin is on. it looks like something. yay. but.... i sense the first disaster on the horizon....
You can't really see it too well, but this is the first dimple disaster to befall us. poop. it seems that while bethany was using the C-frame dimpler, the skin jumped just as she whacked the stamper thingy, and made a hole with dimple next to the actual hole. oops. After a call to vans and a bit of reassurance that the plane would still fly with a slight ding, we're back to building.
