So I primed yesterday, and today I got through a TON of stuff. super productive. First, I riveted the flap brackets to the ribs. Then i riveted the torque tube support brackets to the innermost wing ribs...Then i clecoed the wing ribs to the spar, and riveted them on. After that i clecoed the rear spar on, and all the doublers.I also bolted the wing ribs to the spars with the specified bolts, and marked them with torque marker stuff.
Here's something funny. The instructions say to cut a hole in the rear spar doublers to match the rear spar hole, but the shape they specify is basically rectangular.
next, i went on to rivet together the aileron attach brackets, but i found something funny. as i go to sandwich the 1013-A with 1013-C and 1013-B, the bearing countersink doesn't line up. It can't have been my mistake, because the holes were already there. funny. I called vans and told them, but they seemed to think that it was impossible. I had them send replacement parts, and sent them the bad ones back. here's a pic that illustrates the alignment trouble.
